Meet the Dog Scouts.

On March 21,Dog Scout Troop 119 got together for its once-a-year Easter egg hunt. Twenty- six individuals and 24 dogs hunted for eggs with doggie snacks hidden in the eggs. Scouts sniffed and looked over a one-mile spot at the YMCA Camp Carter campgrounds in Fort Worth.

Requirements for the Easter egg quest are easy. After the canines obtain the egg, the human puts it inside the Easter basket.

Levels of competition for the disguised treasure was strong, however, the selection of dogs of every size along with their handlers were in dog-gone impressive form.

The moment these canines contend, they play by the guidelines.

Not surprisingly ,, they are Dog Scouts.

Dog Scouts have a code of conduct plus a motto that guides them. Much like all Scouts, they go camping, acquire badges, assist with the town,and have fun.

Dog Scouts is a countrywide organisation with troops in 22 states.Troop 119 is the premier in the U.S., with excess of 75 affiliates coming from all regions of the Dallas region. The organization is made up of pairs of human-canine teams.

The Dog Scouts nationalized firm enjoys its 20th anniversary this year. The group will provide education, service and supports its affiliates to make life more favorable for dog owners and canines. Dog Scouts help the lives of both dogs and also people by means of education, pushing good prize -based instruction for dogs and local community service.

Dog Scout Camp

Dog Scout camp is a fun time period to achieve merit badges for any scout. It’s no different for these four-legged campers.

That's right, these canines go to camp.

Camping is a nice destination to meet new friends and learn fun things. If Rover chooses to swim, play fly ball, or learn to dock dive, he or she can attend Dog Camp camp for a couple of days each November. Camp is held at The YMCA Camp Carter. The camp is a well liked event with the Scouts.

Mart and Cindy Ratliff put together Dog Scout Troop 119 in 2002, and it soon grew to the main group in the nation. The Ratliffs started out holding and directing the camp so individuals in the group could go and learn a little more about The Dog Scout Way. The camp attendance continues to grow ever since.

The Ratliffs share their own home with their golden retriever Alex and Stevie Ray, a white German Shepherd.

However for a Dog Scout, it’s not all fun and games, dog stories around the campfire and hunts for Easter eggs.

Service is an important part of the Dog Scout quest.

Dog Scout Service

“Service is really an important part of what Dog Scouts do. We have provided Oxygen masks to more than 24 various police or fire departments in the DFW area,” Cindy Ratliff declared.

The group also provides food and pet toy vacation charitable contributions to Fort Worth Meals on Wheels consumers.

At the end of the annual Dog Scout Easter hunt, awards were given for first, second and third place for the most eggs found. Roen, a yellow lab decked out in bunny ears along with a yellow tutu, won an exclusive award for most festive attire.

We’re betting good dog sportsmanship was demonstrated by champions and losers alike.

After all, It’s the Dog Scout Way. Scout’s honor.
