The past week saw a number of boys’ desires become a reality as they set out on no normal day as part of their Air Activities Badge. The 1st Lumphanan Beaver Colony, which comprises of 16 children aged six to seven, were whisked off after a regular day at school for a very special trip. The group left at 3.15pm last Thurs for a tour of Bond Offshore Helicopters at Dyce. Arriving in uniform and charged with excitement, the kids, their Colony leaders and parent helpers were warmly received by a member of aircrew and floor staff, who set up and conducted the expedition. After being given customized ID badges as a memento, the visitors were then escorted through the passenger terminal. For more personalised ID badges have a look at Bespoke Badges.

The Lumphanan Colony also enjoyed seeing the waiting area, and security. Helicopter safety strategies were then highlighted to the young guests. One of the parent helpers was bestowed the opportunity of trying on an immersion suit on the latter part of the trip, that set off some giggles amongst the youthful visitors. The Beavers were then thrilled when upon going into an aircraft hangar, they were invited to sit in the cabin and cockpit of a Super Puma AS332. They last but not least left with goodie bags stuffed full of memorabilia. Colony Leader Lisa Zvegintzov claimed: “On behalf of 1st Lumphanan Beavers, I would like to give our genuine gratitude to the team at Bond for their welcome. ‘‘I'm glad to say that there are now many aspiring pilots and aircraft engineers among our Colony!”
